The workshop

A family-owned Florentine workshop, operating continuously since 1974. No retail markup, no seasonal collections — one small batch at a time.

  • 1974 Founded by Aldo Valigiero & Rosetta Rosse on Via dei Serragli, Florence.
  • 14 + 4 Master artisans and apprentices, all based in the Oltrarno workshop.

  2. 02We send back a drawing, a price, and a 6-week lead time, with direct access to your artisan on WhatsApp.
  3. 03Eighteen hours of construction, on average. Stamped with the maker’s initials and a numbered production card.

Heritage

Fifty years, one workshop.

A continuous line from Aldo & Rosetta in 1974 to the second generation today — same street, same bench, same leather.

  1. 1974 Aldo Valigiero & Rosetta Rosse open the workshop on Via dei Serragli, Oltrarno.
  2. 1998 First international order — a weekender shipped to a client in New York by post.
  3. 2018 Workshop reaches carbon-neutral operation; first Premio Artigiano Eccellente from the Tuscany Regional Government.
  4. 2023 Second Premio Artigiano Eccellente; restoration program crosses 2,300 pieces serviced, including archive orders from 1974.
  5. Today Daughter Chiara leads 14 artisans and 4 apprentices; preferred supplier to Aman, Bvlgari Hotels and NetJets.

Materials & Method

What goes into the leather.

Three working pillars that justify the price point — without resort to luxury-speak.

Vegetable-tanned vacchetta, aged 60 days.

Full-grain Tuscan leather, 1.4–1.8mm thick, sourced from three generational tanneries within 80 km of the workshop. Aged sixty days before it ever reaches a cutting table, so the bag you buy in 2026 will patina, not peel.

Eighteen hours, one artisan, one bag.

Every piece is hand-stitched by one of fourteen master artisans. Average construction time: eighteen hours. The same hands that cut the hide also burnish the edges and stamp the maker’s initials inside the lining.

A numbered production card in every bag.

Full traceability of every hide. Each piece ships with a numbered production card naming the artisan, the leather batch, and the construction date — the basis for our lifetime structural warranty, honored on every piece ever sold.
